I wish it were so, but today's puzzle wasn't ripped from the headline in the above picture. Now that is a headline. Gotta love the Onion. So crass. So eye-catching. So funn--
Hey now. Wait a minute! Is that a ...? Why yes! Yes it is! It is a BEQ mug on the bar! And hang on! I know I've seen that gentleman before. Is that ... Tuning Spork? It certainly looks like him. Oh man! It is. Here's another (stealth) entry in the BEQ fan photo essay, and I almost missed it! Everyone, meet someone else who uses all three names: Robert Warren Jones. Take it away Robert:
"Here I am at The Windmill bar and restaurant in Stratford, CT. Wednesday night is Texas Hold 'Em night and I had some time to kill as I awaited the arrival of the other poker players. My BEQ mug is at my side as I work on one of your very early Onion puzzles. You were quite young at the time as evidenced by the crossing of QUISP and QUAKE in the lower left corner."
Quite young? I was probably 33/34-ish when I wrote that one! No matter. I love the photo. How many bonus would Robert get if he left the mug at The Windmill and demanded all his drinks be served in it? 100? 1000? Too many to count? Oh, and uh, there'd better be a PBR in that BEQ mug. Just saying. Anyway, Robert gets a "Diagramless" book for his bravado. Everybody else: keep those candid shots coming!
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
