Speaking of which, roughly a dozen or so years ago I was walking around NYC with a friend of mine and we almost collided with the aforementioned Eli Wallach who was standing next to Hume Cronyn. Worth mentioning only for the fact that my wannabe actor friend was dorking out to the fact that these two iconic actors were hanging out in Manhattan together, while I was dorking out that two iconic crossword fill celebrities were doing the same thing. Same planet different worlds.
Announcmenet: the new contest puzzle is up at the Visual Thesaurus here. After years of doing the word chains, me and my editor, the recently NYT-exiled Ben Zimmer, decided for a different approach this month. So if you haven't done them in a while, please give it a shot. While you're over there, you can continue reading Zim's columns at the VT, until he gets a new home.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
