Read two books last week. I can't remember the last time I had enough free time on my hands to read any book, let alone two. But read them I did. First up: "I Want My MTV," the oral history of said channel. The book, like the channel itself, started off really strong, like amazingly so, then went too far into boring acts by the late '80s and tapered off to near-irrelevance by the end. Needless to say, it got me going back to YouTube to rewatch some of the classics. Nostalgia fever! Catch it!
I also read "Hidden Wheel," the first piece of fiction by my buddy Mike Fournier. It was a fine mishmash of multimedia, and since I happen to know the author, there are only about two to three Easter Eggs on each and every page. In fact, if you look carefully, you will definitely find me hidden in the background in one chapter.
I hope to carve out a few minutes each day in the twenty twelve to dedicate to reading, but all bets are off. Scratch that. I can guarantee I'll be reading a ton of books this year, but mostly of the Beatrix Potter ilk and other such children's lit for Tabitha.
