The 36th annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament starts in a mere eight days. This one's the biggie. The epic All-Star weekend of all things crosswords where superstar constructors mingle with superstar solvers. Where entire days are spent consuming puzzles and entire evenings are spent consuming beers and playing Peter Gordon's Celebrity game. It's also the weekend where Dan Feyer pockets $5000 either by winning the whole tournament or through extortion. This will be the seventeenth time I've gone to the ACPT, and once I finish building that time machine, I'll go to the other nineteen. Don't doubt me.
Looks like the list of constructors who will have puzzles in the tournament was leaked on Facebook last night, so here it is again: Crossword Jesus #1 Patrick Berry, Lollapuzzoola co-director Patrick Blindauer, my man Kevin Der, La Liz Gorski, La Lynn Lempel, the runner-up of the Ian Livengood lookalike contest Ian Livengood, Crossword Jesus #2 Mike Shenk, and yours truly.
