It's Boxing Day here in the UK, and I say "here" because we're in (old) York visiting the in-laws. Good times. Anyway, to commemorate the holiday, I've reposted a classic from the vaults. Enjoy. And since I was looking back at some old puzzles, how about we take a quick gander at some noteworthy BEQ.com puzzles from 2013? Yes lets.
- If we are going on traffic alone, this puzzle loomed large over all the other puzzles. Note to self: write more puzzles with similar titles to cult books.
- My best-received puzzle of the year was this one. It was my highest rated puzzle on Crossword Fiend as well as runner-up in Matt Gaffney's puzzle of the month of October.
- I rather liked the gimmick for this puzzle, but if I were to do it all over again I might have gone with a rebus for that part of the theme.
- One of the best parts of going completely indie is that stories in today's news cycle can be in the next puzzle I post. Here are two examples. The first one had a very short shelf life, but despite that, I still get email about it.
- Here were two favorites of mine. The first because I listened to a few too many hours of inane stage banter this year (don't ask why), and I guarantee I ironically used every one of the entries when I was doing band stuff back in the day. I liked the second because I thought it was my best attempt yet at the block cryptic form.
