Lollapuzzoola is back for one more go of it next month, Saturday August 9th in the All Souls Church basement (1157 Lexington Ave, Manhattan). Now that the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament is fleeing to the suburbs (that is to say leaving the confines of Brooklyn to Stamford, Connecticut), that makes Lollapuzzoola the only crossword tournament in New York City. Who'd a thunk that? Pretty amazing. As always, the show is put together by Brian Cimmet and Patrick Blindauer, and yeah, I said show. Both of those guys have theater backgrounds and Lolla always feels like equal parts "puzzle event" and "cabaret." And Blindauer's responsible for tons of puzzles that make you go "wished I'd thought of that one." So, in short, it's a blast. I should know, not only did I write a puzzle for it once, but also I competed and took second place in the Local division. I just signed up to go, so hopefully I'll be seeing some of you there next month. Or, if you can't make the trek to New York, there's always the play at home division.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
