A couple weeks ago, I hid an Easter Egg in one of my puzzles. Do you see it?>
So, a while back I got an email from a Jess Campbell wondering if there was a way to hide a wedding propsal to her girlfriend Emily Schwartz in one of my crosswords. Now I make these as gift puzzles all the time, but Jess wasn't interested. And to be honest, neither was I in making the puzzle that Jess wanted. The hidden wedding proposal in a regular crossword was sort of a tired played out gimmick. But hang on, I thought. I don't know if anybody'd done that for a same-sex couple before. So, I told Jess that I would do it if and only if we could come up with a new twist on the gimmick. Gauntlet dropped, and challenge accepted. And after a couple emails, Jess and I came up with ... well, the puzzle that I linked to above. And as for that Easter Egg? Just read the answer at 1-Across, the clue and answer at 6-Across, and the answer at 11-Across.
The Star Tribune picked up on the story and wrote an article here. As of this posting it's the most-read story on their site.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
