THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Everybody's doing a year in review, so why not me? But first, I've got a brand new puzzle for you as well. Who loves ya, baby?
Right, where was I? That's right, noteworthy BEQ.com puzzles. No surprises, the one with the most traffic was my memorial puzzle for Merl Reagle. The news dropped ten minutes before Tabitha's 4th birthday party, and once the guests left, I cranked out the aforementioned puzzle. The crossword community lost another titan just a few weeks later when Henry Hook died. I couldn't come up with a suitable memorial puzzle, so I just wrote a few words instead. Eerie timing that I'd scheduled a puzzle called "GoPro" to run alongside the post.
The winner for the most divisive puzzle was this wackdoodle one. It was a generational thing, obviously. And your love or hate for the puzzle was directly tied into your love or hate for the subject. But that was not all, even those that got the theme weren't blown away by the alphabet soup that was the theme answers. And it wouldn't be a divisive puzzle if people utterly loved that gibberish too.
Themes that I rather enjoyed making were: the gonzo musical Corporate Rockers, the seriously damaged word play of Alternate Endings, the simple sports theme for Here's The Kicker, the goofiness involved in Chants Encounters, the inspired from the headlines Yuge Puzzle, and finally a completely new take on a puzzle called Noel.
Themeless fans, I haven't forgotten about you. Here's a few to give another look.
REMINDER This is the last week of the tip drive. Thanks to all who chipped in. If you can't, or choose not to. That's fine too. But if you can give just $10 to show yr. love and support, I'll hook you up with four bonus puzzles. Chip in just $15 more for a Marching Bands or Diagramless subscription. $25 more and you'll got both. Also, if you have tipped and for whatever reason haven't received the puzzles yet, email me.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
