CROSSWORD #817: Ups and Downs

Winter is icummen in. I guess it's already here, but all I hear about is how the Northeast will be blanketed with snow. Me? I live in complete denial that there are things called "seasons," as my entire wardrobe is geared for exactly one of them: Autumn. But still, Tabitha wants to go sledding, so let's get some snow, hit the slopes, and then be done with it. Do you hear me, Mother Nature? I'm giving you permission for exactly one storm, so you'd better make it count. None of this prolonged storm upon storm upon storm rotgut that we went through last year. One and that's it. Okay? Okay.

As for todays puzzle? This one's a weird 'un. My favorite bit about it is that despite its totally normal appearance, it has only 74 words, four fewer than normally themed puzzles have. So, it's deceptively wide open. Cool theme, too, in my humble opinionn. Hope you enjoy it.
