CROSSWORDS #926: Themeless Monday

Couple people asked me what I was doing for the Super Bowl last night, and I told them point blank: I was gonna write clues for today's puzzle. Yeah, I know, it sounds ridiculous. My team, big game, excuse to party, why's Brendan working? Clarification, I was working in front of the TV, but still that's what I've been doing pretty much for the whole football season anyway. Cluing the Monday puzzle with Sunday Night Football on in the background. Why stop now, right? Anyway, you'll notice that today's is a mighty wide-open grid (just 62 words) so that I'd have fewer clues to write, I could end early, and enjoy the second half. That could not have worked out better, even if I planned it. Anyway, hope you enjoy it.
