I don't always talk nuts 'n bolts about how the sausage puzzle is made, but when you've got a wild example like today's offering, you just have to chime in. Six theme answers is a lot for a 15x like we've got here. More often than not, I do the every-other-row layout like in this one, a tight fit for sure, but those spaces in between generally play fair and I can make it work. Today's? Unh-uh. Just wouldn't comply. So I had to not only stack a few of them (northeast and southwest corners), I had to cross two answers (the downs). As such, the grid looks completely bonkers weird. I just wished that I could have gotten rid of just one of the black squares on the first and fifteenth column, those four 3s look a bit much. But anyway, I digress. Proud of how this came out, enjoy.
And if you were wondering why Liz's eyes glaze over when I talk about puzzles, well, just reread that paragraph again and maybe a third time and that will give you a sense. I can go on and on about this stuff and maybe possibly realize that I sound on the edge of insane. To the laymen, well, there is no doubt.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon, and now Joon Pahk) and Marching Bands year eight has begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
