SICK JOKES: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]

Every now and then, I get asked, "aren't you worried that computers are going to take your job?" It's a fair question. Crosswords do have their own rules, and computers are very good at following those rules very quickly and efficiently. Ruthlessly, even. But they're missing that "why do I make anything?" component that seems to be probably the toughest nut for AI to crack. Take for instance the latest buzzy AI chat bot, ChatGPT. For those that are living under a rock, it's a chat robot that can answer your questions, do complicated problems, even write code. It's already yielded some impressive results. But it's still very much a work in progress.
I asked it to make me puzzle about "AI," and well, as you can see from the results above, I need not worry about my job.
By the way, today my site turns 14 years old. It's almost old enough to vote.
Friendly reminder that the December drive is under way. Long story short: these puzzles are always free and you are under no obligation to give any money for them. Enjoy the fruits of my labor. However, if you're able, a small tip helps the site chug along smoothly. PayPal or Venmo (@TheBEQ) preferred. But I take everything, just email me.
Everyone who chips in gets two Sunday-sized puzzles. One randomly selected donor gets a puzzle book of their choice. Long form appeal is here
